NFL Wraps Up Season with Big Wins, Disappointing Losses
It was the last week of regular season for the NFL yesterday, and we all know what that means. Some teams are still riding high the sweet smell of victory, while others are wondering how they can improve for next year. So which teams made it into the playoffs, and which ones were left on the sidelines? It’s all in this week’s wrap-up!
Minnesota Vikings 37, Green Bay Packers 34
The Green Bay Packers were already in the playoffs going into this week, but a win would’ve given them a bye week come January 5. The Vikings on the other hand, needed a win just to get into the playoffs — and they got it. Both teams put on a great show, and this one was a nail-biter right up until the clock ran out. With a score that was either tied or went back and forth all game, the Vikings managed to pull it out. And it was such a great game, that they’ll meet up with Green Bay once again next week to see who continues on in the playoffs.
Washington Redskins 28, Dallas Cowboys 18
It was rookie quarterback RG3 and rookie running back Alfred Morris that won this game for the Redskins, proving that sometimes you can make big plays even without all that previous NFL experience under your belt. While they certainly didn’t defeat their rivals, the Dallas Cowboys alone, they were both responsible for the win on Sunday night. Morris broke the franchise record for rushing in a single season; and Griffin was showing no signs that his right knee was bothering him at all, after injuring it just a few weeks back. Being the first time in over a decade that Washington won the divisional title, there’s little doubt that the Washington boys are still partying like it’s 1999.
Two big teams that didn’t make it
The New York Giants were just looking to scrape by into the playoffs; and their crushing defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday would have been a huge help. Unfortunately, the Chicago Bears won their game against the Detroit Lions, sending the former Super Bowl Champions home. But Chicago’s win didn’t do much for them, as they were eliminated from the playoffs when the Vikings beat the Packers.
