NFL Recap: Week 5

Indianapolis had their most meaningful victory of the year, Tom Brady won the battle of the quarterbacks, and the Pittsburgh Steelers were finally able to win another game. All of this and more was enough to make for another fantastic football Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts 30, Green Bay Packers 27
It was definitely one of the most meaningful, and one of the most emotional, games that Indianapolis has ever played. After head coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia during the team’s bye week last week, the team was determined to win the game for him. With Andrew Luck playing the best game of his life, and everyone pitching in for the coach, the Colts took it 30-27. At the same time, they also brought awareness to leukemia with “Chuckstrong” t-shirts and banners that are now available on the team’s website.

Pittsburgh Steelers 16, Philadelphia Eagles 14
No one knew how this one was going to go. Prior to it, the Steelers only had one win so far this season; and while the Eagles were winning, no one quite knew how. It was obvious on Sunday why they lost though. Vick continued to fumble the ball throughout the game, and didn’t even seem to have any focus until the third quarter. Shaun Suisham was the hero for the Steelers, as it was his 34-yard drive in the closing minutes that won this one for Pittsburgh.

New England Patriots 31, Denver Broncos 21
There’s often nothing better than a battle of great quarterbacks, and both of them did phenomenal yesterday. Tom Brady was sharp and on point during the entire game, while Peyton Manning tried to pull off one of his great comebacks late in the third. It wasn’t enough though, and the Pats made this one look easy.
