Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal with 6:03 to play as the shorthanded Pittsburgh Penguins took a 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday. Chris Conner and Brandon Sutter also scored for the Penguins, who have won four straight and nine of 10. Marc-Andre Fleury made 25 saves in the win. Pittsburgh was missing many big pieces of its squad for this game, including star forward Evgeni Malkin, who was out with a lower- body injury and is listed as day-to-day. Also, forward James Neal served the fourth game of a five-game suspension, and defenseman Kris Letang was placed on injured reserve on Monday with an upper-body injury. Several other players were also out of the lineup as the Penguins had several players suit up who had played significant time in the American Hockey League. Morgan Rielly scored for the Maple Leafs, who have lost four of their last five. Jonathan Bernier allowed two goals on 30 shots in the loss.

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – Evander Kane’s goal midway through the third period proved to be the difference in the Winnipeg Jets’ 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday. Kane, who also had an assist, returned to the lineup after missing six games with a lower-body injury for the Jets, who snapped a three-game skid. Mark Scheifele and Bryan Little also lit the lamp. Al Montoya stopped 22-of-24 shots in the victory. RJ Umberger and Fedor Tyutin scored for the Blue Jackets, who had won six straight against the Winnipeg franchise. Mike McKenna turned aside 29-of-32 shots for Columbus, which has lost two in a row.

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Cody Ceci scored 3:59 into overtime to lift the Ottawa Senators over the St. Louis Blues, 3-2. It was Ceci’s first NHL goal. Bobby Ryan and Jean-Gabriel Pageau also lit the lamp for the Senators. Robin Lehner stopped 30-of-32 shots. Chris Stewart had a pair of goals for the Blues, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Brian Elliott made 29 saves against his former team.

Final Score: Colorado 6, Dallas 2

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) – Paul Stastny had two goals and two assists as the Colorado Avalanche routed the Dallas Stars, 6-2, at Pepsi Center. Tyson Barrie, Erik Johnson, Nathan MacKinnion and Andre Benoit each scored for the Avalanche, winners in two of their last three tilts. PA Parenteau and Matt Duchene finished with three and two assists, respectively, and Semyon Varlamov made 31 saves in the win. Tyler Seguin scored one goal and added one assist and Kevin Connauton tallied his first NHL goal for the Stars, losers in three of their last four games. These teams will meet again Tuesday in Dallas.
