Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – Daniel Paille scored a pair of goals to help the Boston Bruins defeat the Detroit Red Wings 5-3 on Sunday. After only scoring once in his first 57 games this season, Paille now has four in his last six as Boston extended its point streak to five games. Brad Marchand scored a goal for the fourth straight game and David Pastrnak and Loui Eriksson netted a goal apiece for the Bruins. Niklas Svedberg made 36 saves to earn the win. Detroit lost for the second straight game after Jonas Gustavsson allowed four goals on 23 shots in two periods of work. Jimmy Howard relieved him at the start of the third period and allowed one goal on seven shots. Gustav Nyquist, Luke Glendening and Marek Zidlicky accounted for the Red Wings’ goals.

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – Elias Lindholm notched his first career hat trick and added two assists as Carolina scored six straight goals on its way to a 7-4 victory over Edmonton on Sunday. Jeff Skinner had two goals and Eric Staal posted four assists for the Hurricanes, who snapped a two- game losing streak. Cam Ward turned away 16 shots in the win. Ryan Nugent- Hopkins recorded his second career hat trick and added an assist while Jordan Eberle had a goal and two assists for the Oilers, who have lost their last four games. Richard Bachman allowed six goals on 34 shots in the loss.

Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) – Adam Henrique scored twice to help the New Jersey Devils in a 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday. Stephen Gionta posted a goal and an assist while Jacob Josefson and Eric Gelinas also scored for the Devils, who have won three of their last four. Steve Bernier had three assists and Keith Kinkaid allowed two goals on 27 shots. Ryan White and Michael Raffl each had a goal for the Flyers, who have lost five of their last seven. Steve Mason allowed all five goals on 21 shots in defeat.

St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) – Gabriel Landeskog and Zach Redmond each had a goal and an assist as the Colorado Avalanche held on for a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday at Xcel Energy Center. Jarome Iginla collected two assists for the Avalanche, who avoided being swept in the season series against the Wild after scoring only one goal in the first four meetings. Colorado, which saw a three-goal lead nearly evaporate, has won eight of its last 11 games. Semyon Varlamov, making his 22nd consecutive start for the Avalanche, made 29 saves before leaving with 5:44 to go in the game. He was stung by a high shot off his right shoulder early in the second period. Devan Dubnyk stopped 18 shots for the Wild, who had a five-game winning streak ended.

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Erik Karlsson scored the winning goal in the sixth round of the shootout as the Ottawa Senators survived to take a 5-4 win over the Calgary Flames on Sunday. The Senators took a 4-0 lead into the third period, but the Flames lit the lamp four times in the frame to force overtime, with the game eventually going to the shootout. In the sixth round, Karlsson snapped in a heavy wrister past the glove of Jonas Hiller, who relieved Karri Ramo in the second period. Craig Anderson then sealed the victory by stopping Kyle Turris’ backhand lift attempt. Alex Chiasson, Mark Borowiecki, Mike Hoffman and Milan Michalek each had a goal for the Senators, who have won eight of their last nine games. Anderson turned aside 42 shots in the win. Kris Russell had two goals while Joe Colborne and Mikael Backlund also scored for the Flames, who went 4-2-1 during a seven-game road trip. Ramo allowed four goals on 23 shots and Hiller turned aside all 19 he faced in relief.

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) – Derick Brassard scored 32 seconds into overtime, and the New York Rangers topped the Chicago Blackhawks 1-0 on Sunday at United Center. After 60 scoreless and entertaining minutes, Brassard wasted little time ending the game in the extra session. He took a Mats Zuccarello cross-ice pass and beat Corey Crawford on the blocker side with a slap shot from the left circle. Cam Talbot made 29 saves to earn his fifth shutout of the season. It was the first time the Rangers blanked the Blackhawks since Jan. 25, 1969 and their first shutout in Chicago since Dec. 25, 1966. New York improved to 10-1-3 in its last 14 games. Crawford finished with 35 saves for the Blackhawks, who were looking to sweep their three-game homestand.
