Casey Cizikas added a goal and Jaroslav Halak made 32 saves to help send the Leafs to a franchise-record 12th consecutive road loss. Toronto has now dropped 13 of its last 14 overall. Jonathan Bernier came up with 38 saves in the Maple Leafs’ latest setback, with Richard Panik posting a goal and assist and Trevor Smith also lighting the lamp.

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – John Gibson made a pile of saves to help the Anaheim Ducks stop a three-game losing streak. Ducks defenseman Hampus Lindholm had one, too. Francois Beauchemin and Matt Beleskey each had a goal and Gibson made 35 saves to lead Anaheim to a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night. Gibson made 14 saves each in the first and second periods and added seven in the third for the Ducks, who finished off a 2-2-1 road trip. Jeff Skinner had a power-play goal, but the Hurricanes were unable to even the score despite finishing the game with a 6-on-4 advantage over the last 32 seconds after Ryan Kesler was whistled for a hooking penalty and Carolina pulled goaltender Cam Ward.

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) – Anton Lander scored the game-winning goal 1:47 into overtime as the Edmonton Oilers rallied to defeat the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 on Thursday. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins finished with two goals, including the game-tying score with 25 seconds left in regulation. Matt Hendricks also scored and Viktor Fasth made 23 saves for the Oilers, who won their third straight game against the Canadiens. Christian Thomas notched his first NHL goal for the Canadiens. Alex Galchenyuk and Max Pacioretty also lit the lamp, while Dustin Tokarski allowed all four goals on 38 shots as Montreal’s three-game winning streak came to an end.

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – David Perron scored the game-winner in the shootout as the Pittsburgh Penguins survived for a 5-4 win over the Ottawa Senators. Perron buried a wrister off the crossbar on Pittsburgh’s first chance, while Thomas Greiss stopped Kyle Turris then got help as Mika Zibanejad rang one off the post. Sidney Crosby scored twice, Kris Letang had a goal and an assist and Evgeni Malkin also scored for the Penguins, who have won four of their last five. Greiss turned away 29 shots. Turris, Mark Stone, Mike Hoffman and Zibanejad all lit the lamp for the Senators, who have lost four of their last five. Robin Lehner allowed four goals on 29 shots in the loss.

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Alex Steen recorded a goal and two assists in an impressive 6-3 victory for the St. Louis Blues over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena. David Backes and T.J. Oshie notched a goal and an assist in the 693rd career triumph for Ken Hitchcock, which moved the Blues head coach past Dick Irvin and into sole possession of fourth place on the NHL’s all-time wins list. Dmitrij Jaskin, Paul Stastny and Vladimir Tarasenko also scored to keep St. Louis surging, with the club now 14-2-1 since Jan. 3. Brian Elliott did his part as well by coming up with 26 saves. The Lightning entered Thursday’s clash atop the Eastern Conference and 11-1-0 in their last 12 home outings. They received goals from Steven Stamkos, Tyler Johnson and Brett Connolly, but goaltender Ben Bishop was yanked after two periods for surrendering five goals on 34 shots.

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – Pekka Rinne made 32 saves to back a solid offensive effort as the Nashville Predators continued their winning ways with a 3-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. Shea Weber finished with a power-play goal and two assists, Filip Forsberg also scored on the power play and supplied a helper and James Neal sealed the win with a late goal for the Predators, who won their fourth straight game. Michael Frolik supplied Winnipeg’s lone marker and Ondrej Pavelec allowed three goals on 26 shots in defeat. Defenseman Tyler Myers and forward Drew Stafford made their Winnipeg debuts after coming over in a blockbuster trade that shipped forward Evander Kane to Buffalo.

St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) – Devan Dubnyk made 26 saves and the Minnesota Wild held off the Florida Panthers 2-1 on Thursday. Jason Pominville and Zach Parise lit the lamp for Minnesota, winners in seven of its last eight games. Mikko Koivu assisted on both goals. Nick Bjugstad scored Florida’s lone marker and Roberto Luongo surrendered both goals on 23 shots in the setback.

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) – Kevin Hayes finished with a goal and two assists as the New York Rangers defeated the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 on Thursday. Carl Hagelin scored the go-ahead goal past the midway point of the third period, Rick Nash scored his NHL-leading 34th goal of the season and Dan Boyle, Mats Zuccarello and Ryan McDonagh also lit the lamp for the Rangers, who won their second in a row. Cam Talbot made 26 saves in his fifth straight start in place of injured starter Henrik Lundqvist. Jarome Iginla tallied a goal and an assist, Gabriel Landeskog and Jan Hedja scored and Semyon Varlamov stopped 25-of-30 shots in Colorado’s fourth straight loss.

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Tyler Toffoli notched his first career hat trick and added an assist as the Los Angeles Kings used a big third period to grab a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames on Thursday. Dwight King had a goal and an assist and Jordan Nolan also scored for the Kings, who have won their past three games. Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on 18 shots in the win. Mason Raymond had two goals and David Jones scored the other for the Flames, who had won four of five coming in. Jonas Hiller allowed five goals on 40 shots and was pulled in the third period, with Karri Ramo stopping all five shots he faced in relief.
