Florida had gone 1-6-1 over its previous eight games and was outscored by a 9-4 margin in recent road setbacks to the Devils and Rangers. The Metropolitan Division-leading Islanders matched a season high with their third straight loss despite Anders Lee’s two-goal effort. Jaroslav Halak turned aside 26-of-29 chances in defeat.

Lucas Lessio and Tobias Rieder also rippled the net for the Coyotes, who have won three of their last four since losing seven in a row. Keith Yandle and Antoine Vermette added two assists each. James Wisniewski potted the lone goal for the Blue Jackets, losers of three straight and eight of their last 11. Anton Forsberg made 25 saves in defeat.

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) – Finally! The Buffalo Sabres ended a pair of franchise-worst losing streaks by holding on for a 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. Buffalo snapped team-record skids that had reached 14 overall and on the road, posting its first victory since Dec. 27 against the New York Islanders. The club’s last road win came Nov. 29 against these same Canadiens. Drew Stafford, Matt Moulson and ex-Montreal captain Brian Gionta had first-period goals for the Sabres, who got 32 saves from Jhonas Enroth. Brandon Prust and David Desharnais scored for Montreal, which has dropped two straight following a five-game win streak. Carey Price, coming off consecutive shutouts, gave up three goals on 18 shots.

Vladimir Tarasenko picked up the other goal for the Blues, who have won six in a row and 11 of their last 12 to challenge Nashville for Central Division supremacy. Brian Elliott picked up the win thanks to 30 stops. Cedric Paquette provided early offense for the Lightning, who have recorded a point in six of their last seven games (5-1-1). Ben Bishop made just 16 saves.

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – Colin Wilson recorded the game-winning goal with 8:42 remaining, sending the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 10th consecutive loss and giving the Nashville Predators a 4-3 come-from-behind victory. The Predators trailed 3-2 before goals by Wilson and Mike Fisher lifted the Central Division leaders to a franchise-record ninth straight win on home ice. Fisher added a pair of assists and Wilson had one of his own in support of Carter Hutton’s 25 saves. Seth Jones and Shea Weber also scored for the Predators. Toronto overcame a 2-0 deficit after one period on goals by Daniel Winnik, Nazem Kadri and Mike Santorelli, but couldn’t hold the lead in tying a club mark for consecutive defeats. The Leafs fell to 0-9-1 in their last 10 road outings as well. Santorelli also registered an assist and Jonathan Bernier finished with 24 saves for Toronto.

St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) – Devan Dubnyk turned away 24 shots for his third shutout of the season to lead the Minnesota Wild in a 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Mikko Koivu had a goal and an assist while Jason Zucker and Mikael Granlund also scored for the Wild, who have ripped off four straight wins. Since being acquired by Minnesota from Arizona, Dubnyk is 6-1-0 with three shutouts. Corey Crawford allowed all three goals on 43 shots for the Blackhawks, who have gone just 2-3-0 during a seven-game road trip.

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Maxime Talbot scored in the 11th round of the shootout as the Colorado Avalanche rallied to beat the Dallas Stars 3-2 at American Airlines Center. Talbot skated in wide and fired the puck past Kari Lehtonen and in off the left post. Colorado wasted six earlier chances to win the shootout and were down to its last shot twice. Semyon Varlamov made 30 saves for the Avalanche, who erased a 2-0 third-period deficit with goals from Ryan O’Reilly and Tyson Barrie, the latter coming with 20 seconds remaining in regulation. Colorado improved to 9-3-3 in its last 15 games.

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) – Luca Sbisa scored the winner 36 seconds into overtime as the Vancouver Canucks grabbed a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday. Sbisa was able to bank the puck out of his zone and Radim Vrbata caught up to the puck in the neutral zone. Skating down the left wing, Vrbata passed the puck over to the left where Sbisa was able to gather the disc and wrist it in for the win. Alexandre Burrows and Ronalds Kennis scored goals for the Canucks, who had lost three of four coming into the game. Eddie Lack turned aside 26 shots. Bryan Little had a goal and an assist and Blake Wheeler also scored for the Jets, who have lost their last five games. Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 30 shots in the loss.

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Ryan Getzlaf’s tally at the 45-second mark of overtime vaulted Anaheim over Carolina by a 5-4 count at Honda Center. Getzlaf one-timed a Corey Perry dish past Anton Khudobin, capping a rally which began when Devante Smith-Pelly scored with 10:29 left in regulation and continued after Perry evened the score with 4:08 to play. Perry finished with two goals and the primary assist on the winner while Getzlaf added two helpers for the Ducks, who won for the seventh time in their last nine outings. Ryan Kesler also lit the lamp and Frederik Andersen came up with 28 stops. Jordan Staal, Alex Semin, Jay McClement and Brad Malone scored once each for the Hurricanes, who have dropped three in a row. Khudobin was on the hook for all five goals on 31 shots.
