Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – Brad Marchand scored the winner with 1:33 to play in overtime to give the Boston Bruins a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. Marchand took a pass from Dougie Hamilton and skated down the middle, making a move to get around Dylan Olsen before switching back to the forehand and wristing it into the left corner for his fifth goal of the season and the win. Patrice Bergeron scored the other goal while Tuukka Rask stopped 18 shots for the Bruins, who have won their past three. Jussi Jokinen scored for the Panthers, who had won two straight coming in. Roberto Luongo stopped 23 shots in defeat.

Final Score: Philadelphia 4, Edmonton 1

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Steve Mason stopped 35-of-36 shots to earn his first win of the season, while Jakub Voracek tallied twice as Philadelphia topped Edmonton by a 4-1 count on Tuesday. Entering play, Mason was 0-4-1 with a 3.55 goals-against average along with an .887 save percentage, and the only game in which he participated that the Orange and Black won, was a 6-5 overtime decision on Oct. 18 in Dallas where he was pulled after allowing four goals on 18 shots in two periods. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Luke Schenn also lit the lamp for the Flyers, who kicked off a four-game homestand on the right note. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins supplied the lone offense for the Oilers, who began a five-game road trip and lost despite committing one penalty and not giving up a power-play chance. Viktor Fasth surrendered all four markers on just 25 shots.

Final Score: Calgary 4, Washington 3 (OT)

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – Sean Monahan’s goal 4:17 into overtime gave the Calgary Flames a 4-3 win on Tuesday over the Washington Capitals and new franchise points leader Alex Ovechkin. Monahan ended a back-and-forth game by beating Braden Holtby from the low left side off a pass from Josh Jooris that was tipped by a Washington player. Lance Bouma, Mark Giordano and Markus Granlund also scored for Calgary, with Granlund’s goal going off an opponent’s skate to tie the score at 14:50 of the third period. Jonas Hiller, who also let in an own-goal during the game, had 31 saves in the Flames’ third straight win — none better than a pad stop on Tom Wilson in the final seconds of regulation. Hiller improved to 6-0-1 in his last seven outings and Calgary moved to 5-1-2 in its last eight. Ovechkin broke a tie with Peter Bondra to become the Capitals’ all-time points leader with an assist on Nicklas Backstrom’s goal in the first period. He had two assists, giving him 827 points in his 10th season. The Capitals have lost five games in a row, but earned a point for the first time in the slump. It’s their first five-game skid since an 0-3-2 stretch from March 25-April 4 last season. Holtby allowed four goals on 23 shots and Marcus Johansson and Joel Ward also scored in the loss.
