Torey Krug notched a goal and an assist, while Jordan Caron and Zdeno Chara added a goal apiece for the Bruins, who have won back-to-back games to begin the defense of their Eastern Conference championship. Tuukka Rask turned away 25-of-26 shots in the triumph. Raymond, Nazem Kadri, Joffrey Lupul and James van Riemsdyk scored for Toronto, which overcame a 4-2 deficit to force extra time. Vincent Lecavalier’s third-period goal was all the offense for the Flyers, who have been outscored by a 7-2 margin in dropping their first two games of the year. Ray Emery’s first start with the club since February of 2010 ended with a 30- save defeat.

Reigning Vezina trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 28-of-30 shots for Columbus. Lubomir Visnovsky had a goal and an assist for the Islanders, who were coming off a 4-3 shootout win over the New Jersey Devils on Friday. Matt Moulson also lit the lamp. Evgeni Nabokov turned aside 27-of-29 shots in defeat.

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Marc-Andre Fleury posted 20 saves as the Pittsburgh Penguins took a 4-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Fleury came 4:54 away from his second shutout in as many games. He led the Penguins to a 3-0 whitewash of New Jersey on Thursday. Sidney Crosby and Chuck Kobasew each had a goal in the first period, while Chris Kunitz scored on a penalty shot in the third period and Craig Adams added an empty-netter for Pittsburgh. Thomas Vanek had the only goal for the Sabres, who have dropped three straight to start the season. Jhonas Enroth gave up three goals on 34 shots.

St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) – Mathieu Perreault’s first goal of the season was the overtime winner, coming with less than five seconds left, giving Anaheim a 4-3 victory over Minnesota at Xcel Energy Center. Francois Beauchemin threaded the needle to the speedy winger, acquired from Washington prior to the start of the season, and Perreault beat Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom through the pads on the backhand to end the contest. The Ducks were coming off a season-opening 6-1 defeat to the Avalanche in Denver on Wednesday. Saku Koivu, Nick Bonino and Jakob Silfverberg lit the lamp, Beauchemin supplied two assists and Jonas Hiller stopped 30 shots for the visitors. Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) – Valtteri Filppula scored the winner in the shootout as the Tampa Bay Lightning rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. In the first round, Filppula deked back and forth before lifting a forehand over Corey Crawford. Ben Bishop then made stops on Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa for the win. Martin St. Louis and Teddy Purcell scored less than two minutes apart in the third period while Bishop made 37 stops for the Lightning, who had opened the season with a loss in Boston on Thursday. Kane and Brandon Saad scored in the second period for the Blackhawks, who had defeated Washington on Tuesday to open their defense of the Stanley Cup title. Crawford stopped 14 shots.

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Jaroslav Halak stopped all 19 shots he faced to set a new franchise record, as the St. Louis Blues blitzed the Florida Panthers, 7-0, at Scottrade Center. Halak earned his first shutout of the season and 17th career whitewash with the Blues, eclipsing the mark of 16 previously held by Hall of Fame netminder Glenn Hall from 1968-71. Brenden Morrow got the Blues going with an early power-play goal and the home team tacked on four more in the second period. Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Schwartz and Derek Roy all netted goals within a span of 3:41, while Alex Steen backhanded home a penalty shot late in the period for a 5-0 margin. Ryan Reaves and Patrik Berglund scored early in the third to produce the final margin. Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Alex Chiasson’s second-period tally proved to be the difference, as the Dallas Stars edged the Washington Capitals, 2-1, on Saturday at American Airlines Center. Erik Cole also lit the lamp and Kari Lehtonen stopped 25-of-26 shots for the Stars, who bounced back from Thursday’s season-opening setback to Florida. Alex Ovechkin potted a power- play marker for his fourth goal of the season, while Braden Holtby allowed both goals on 21 shots for the Capitals, who failed to build off Thursday’s shootout win against Calgary.

Final Score: Vancouver 6, Edmonton 2

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) – Five unanswered goals between the first and second periods pushed the Vancouver Canucks past the Edmonton Oilers, 6-2, and provided head coach John Tortorella with his first win with the club. Brad Richardson’s short-handed goal began the run, with Dan Hamhuis, Jannik Hansen, Daniel Sedin and Ryan Kesler each following with scores in succession for Vancouver, which was coming off a 4-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks. Jason Garrison added a third period goal and Robert Luongo saved 21-of-23 shots in the victory. The Oilers, 0-2 for the first time since 1998-99, saw Devan Dubnyk give up five goals on 31 shots. Edmonton is winless in its last six visits to Vancouver. Jeff Petry and Boyd Gordon had tallies in the setback.

San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Tomas Hertl scored the first two goals of his NHL career to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 4-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes. Patrick Marleau also scored in the opening period and Logan Couture added an empty-netter to power the Sharks, who fired 51 shots on net. Antti Niemi made 22 saves for San Jose, which won as the host over Vancouver Thursday. After giving up three goals on 18 shots in the first period, Mike Smith made 32 saves over the final two stanzas. That wasn’t enough for the Coyotes, who failed to build on a 4-1 season-opening win over the New York Rangers Thursday. Oliver Ekman-Larsson had the only goal for Phoenix.
