Hallandale Beach, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Mucho Macho Man will make his 2014 debut Saturday in the $400,000 Florida Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park.

A finalist for 2013 Horse of the Year, Mucho Macho Man will be ridden in the 1 1/8-mile stakes by Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens, who guided the horse to victory in last November’s $5 million Classic at Santa Anita. The pair will start from post 4 in the six-horse field.

Owned by Reeves Thoroughbred Racing and trained by Kathy Ritvo, Mucho Macho Man was pulled up in the stretch during last year’s Sunshine Millions Classic after being unable to handle an off track. He finished third in his next two starts, including the Whitney Invitational.

“He’s clued in to what’s happening the next couple of days,” said Finn Green, racing manager for Reeves Thoroughbred Racing. “He knows what’s going on. He’s ready.”

Mucho Macho Man won the Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita five weeks prior to edging Will Take Charge in the 1 1/4-mile Breeders’ Cup Classic.

The 6-year-old has earned $5,340,410 with eight wins in 23 career starts.

Rounding out the field in post position order are Decaf Again, Carlos Olivero; Joshua’s Comprise, Francisco Maysonett; Rule Number Six, Matthew Rispoli; Bernie the Maestro, Joel Rosario and Gourmet Dinner, Javier Castellano.

Post-time for the Sunshine Millions Classic will be approximately 5:03 p.m. (Et).
