Montana State wins an incredible offensive game
Sacramento, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – In an incredible offensive slugfest, No. 13 Montana State beat Sacramento State, 59-56, on sophomore quarterback Dakota Prukop’s 4-yard touchdown pass to Mitchell Herbert with four seconds to play.
The two Big Sky Conference teams combined on seven touchdowns in the fourth quarter as well as 1,313 yards of offense in the game.
Sacramento State (3-3, 0-2) went ahead 56-52 with 1:02 left when Garrett Safron connected on his fifth touchdown pass, a 5-yarder to DeAndre Carter.
But Montana State’s Gunnar Brekke returned the ensuing kickoff from his team’s goal line to the Sacramento State 30, setting the Bobcats (4-2, 2-0) up for the winning touchdown.
Prukop accounted for eight total touchdowns. He completed 23-of-34 pass attempts for five touchdowns and one interception, and rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries.
Safron had 609 total yards. He was 25-for-39 for 463 yards and the five touchdowns with an interception. He carried the ball 11 times for 146 yards.
