Norfolk, VA (SportsNetwork.com) – Jeremy Ingram poured in 30 points on 5-of-6 shooting from 3-point range, as the North Carolina Central Eagles demolished the Howard Bison, 92-46, in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference Tournament at Scope Arena.

Alfonzo Houston scored 13 points for top-seeded NCCU (26-5), while Jay Copeland netted 11.

For eighth-seeded Howard (8-25), James Daniel was the lone player in double figures with 15 points.

NCCU came out firing in the first half by shooting a blistering 71.4 percent from the field and running out to a 47-23 lead at intermission. Howard, meanwhile, shot only 21.7 percent in the opening 20 minutes.

The Eagles cooled to 53.6 percent field goal shooting after halftime but still cruised to the dominating 46-point victory.

NCCU shot 10-of-20 from 3-point range and forced Howard into 16 turnovers.

The Eagles will play either Savannah State or Norfolk State in the semifinals on Friday.

Final Score: Coppin State 83, Hampton 77

Norfolk, VA (SportsNetwork.com) – Taariq Cephas scored 24 points as the Coppin State Eagles upset the Hampton Pirates 83-77 in the quarterfinals of the Mid- Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament at the Scope.

Dallas Gary finished with 17 points for the seventh-seeded Eagles (12-19), who will face the winner of Thursday’s Morgan State/Florida A&M matchup on Friday. Michael Murray had 15 points and nine boards while Sterling Smith added 14 points.

Du’Vaughn Maxwell tallied 23 points and eight rebounds and Brian Darden netted 17 points for the second-seeded Pirates (18-12).

Coppin State shot 40.7 percent from the field in the first half as it led 36-30 at the intermission. Hampton made just 29.4 percent of its field goal attempts, including 2-of-12 from 3-point range in the period.

The Eagles connected on 52.2 percent of their field goal tries in the second period and went 19-of-24 from the free-throw line. After being tied at 73 with 1:17 left in the game, Coppin State went on a 10-4 run to seal the victory.

Despite the loss, the Pirates outrebounded the Eagles 47-35.
