Lewis Stakes next for Shared Belief
Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Eclipse Award candidate Shared Belief will probably make his first start as a 3-year-old in the Robert B. Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita.
Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, Shared Belief put in a five-furlong workout Friday at Santa Anita in a time of 1:00 2/5 with jockey Corey Nakatani in the saddle.
“It was a very nice work, and the last part, a very nice turn of foot. I think we’re going to look at that race first,” the Hall of Fame trainer said, referring to the $200,000 Robert B. Lewis Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on Feb. 8.
“I don’t think we’re going to run in the next race coming up (for 3-year-olds at Santa Anita, the $100,000 Sham Stakes at one mile on Jan. 11).”
Shared Belief won the CashCall Futurity on Dec. 14 at Hollywood Park by 5 3/4 lengths over Candy Boy with Nakatani riding. The gelding is perfect in his first three career starts for $451,200.
