Hallandale Beach, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Veteran jockey Elvis Trujillo is set to make his return to the races this weekend after suffering a broken collarbone in October.

“It’s been three months, but he’s doing well and is excited about returning,” said Trujillo’s agent Cliff Collier. “You know, it was such a freak thing. He had ridden a race on the turf (Oct. 13), was galloping back after the race, and before he dismounted the horse stumbled and he fell.”

After riding in a pair of races Friday at Gulfstream Park, Trujillo will be aboard Giancarlo in Saturday’s $100,000 Pasco Stakes for 3-year-olds at Tampa Bay Downs. The seven-furlong Pasco will go off at approximately 1:28 p.m. (ET).

Trujillo won 98 of 694 starts before being injured with earnings of $3,919,471 for 2013. He guided Itsmyluckyday to victory in the Holy Bull Stakes.
