Coyotes captain Doan returns to action
Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) – Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan will make his return to the lineup on Saturday for the first time in a month.
Doan had been undergoing treatment for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever symptoms. The veteran forward last played Dec. 4 because of RMSF, which is a tick-borne bacterial disease that affects the cells in the lining of blood vessels.
“I’d like to give it a shot. I wanted to play sooner, but it’s a thing where it’s about whenever they’d let me go,” said Doan after a morning practice session. “I hope the energy will be good. I’m looking forward to getting out there and having a chance to contribute.”
Prior to being sidelined, the 37-year-old Doan was the club-leader with 12 goals this season.
