California Chrome to arrive Monday for Preakness

Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) – Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome will hop a flight out of Louisville Monday headed to Baltimore for the 139th Preakness Stakes.

The 3-year-old will fly out of Louisville at 12:30 p.m. ET and land in Maryland at 2 p.m. attended by groom Raul Rodriguez and exercise rider Willie Delgado. At Pimlico, California Chrome will be stabled in Stall 40 in the Preakness Stakes Barn, which is traditionally reserved for the Kentucky Derby winner.

Trained by Art Sherman, California Chrome will go to the track at Pimlico Race Course Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday prior to 7 a.m. On Preakness Day, Preakness starters will be the only horses permitted on the track from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. with the Kentucky Derby champ the first horse on the track at 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

In addition to California Chrome other Preakness probables include Ring Weekend, Pablo Del Monte, Kid Cruz, Ride On Curlin, Ria Antonia, Dynamic Impact, Bayern, Social Inclusion and General a Rod.
