Bowl exec Matlin named Hawaii athletic director
Honolulu, HI (Sports Network) – College bowl executive David Matlin was named athletic director for the University of Hawaii on Wednesday.
Matlin replaces Ben Jay, who resigned in December.
For the past seven years, Matlin has been the executive director of college football’s Hawaii Bowl as well as the Diamond Head Classic college basketball tournament. He is on the nine-member executive committee of the Football Bowl Association.
Matlin earned his masters in business administration from Hawaii in 1997 and spent five years in the athletics department from 1994-99 as an information officer.
