Oldsmar, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Trainer Doug O’Neill reports on Facebook that 3-year-old colt Bond Holder has not fully recovered from his plane ride last month from California to Louisiana and will not race in this week’s Tampa Bay Derby.

“Bond Holder is still recovering from the effects of his Fed Ex flight. He is walking sound as shown on the video taken this morning (be aware the red you see on his hoof is tape). His foot is doing better and we remain day by day with him. Bond Holder hopefully will be on the track at the end of the week, and if all continues to go well will have his first work the following week. We do not want to press him, so his next race is up in the air at this time. Bond Holder will remain at Tampa Bay Downs in the meantime.”

Bond Holder won Santa Anita’s FrontRunner Stakes last September with fourth- place finishes in both the CashCall Futurity and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. The colt has earned $366,000 in his seven career starts, all with Mario Gutierrez in the saddle.
