St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Peter Mueller’s days with the St. Louis Blues will be over without him ever suiting up for the Central Division club.

On Tuesday, the Post-Dispatch reported the Blues decided to place Mueller on unconditional waivers with the intention to terminate his contract.

The Blues and Mueller agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract in late July, but he apparently didn’t earn the confidence of head coach Ken Hitchcock to snag a spot on the NHL roster.

Scheduled to be assigned to Chicago of the American Hockey League after being placed on regular waivers and cleared six days ago, Mueller reportedly refused assignment to the minors.

Mueller, 26, last played in the NHL during the 2012-13 season with Florida after spending last season with Koten of the Swiss professional league, where he scored 24 goals with 22 assists in 49 games.

The Minnesota native, who was selected eighth overall by the Coyotes in 2006, has tallied 63 goals and 97 assists in 297 career NHL games spanning five seasons with Phoenix, Colorado and Florida.

In other roster moves, the Blues returned 2014 first-round pick Robby Fabbri to Guelph of the Ontario Hockey League, while also assigning forward Dmitrij Jaskin along with defensemen Chris Butler and Petteri Lindbohm to Chicago.
