Bayern knocked out of San Felipe
Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert announced on his Twitter account that 3-year-old colt Bayern is scratched from Saturday’s San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita with an injury.
“Bayern out of San Felipe . Bruised inside quarter. Was looking forward to seeing him run Saturday. Be ok soon,” Baffert posted.
Owned by Kaleem Shah Inc., Bayern was the 8-5 morning line favorite for the 1 1/16-mile San Felipe. The colt had drawn post 6 with Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens again slated to ride.
Bayern has won both career starts at Santa Anita. He won his debut race on Jan. 4 by 3 1/4 lengths and followed on Feb. 13 with a 15-length victory in a one mile allowance race.
