Abbott takes home gold at skating nationals
Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – Jeremy Abbott won his fourth men’s title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Sunday.
After setting a U.S. record for points in the men’s short program Friday night, Abbott earned 174.41 points in the free skate.
Abbott, who is looking to reach his second Olympics, posted a total score of 274.27 points. He finished ninth at Vancouver in 2010.
The U.S. team will be announced later Sunday night.
Jason Brown placed second with a score of 270.08, while Max Aaron finished third with a score of 260.44.
