What will Happen in the NBA Draft?
The NBA Draft starts tonight and two things are for certain: New Orleans has first pick, and they will pick Anthony Davis. Davis’ defensive game is enough to get him where he is and has drawn comparisons to that of Marcus Camby. Given the fact that Davis also shows that he’s got some offensive potential, and this is one year when the first pick is already locked up. But who will go where next?
2.) Thomas Robinson to Charlotte Bobcats
The Bobcats had the worst year in the league last year and they need help desperately. With Davis going to the Hornets, Robinson is the best of the remaining prospects to give Charlotte that help. He’s got strength, speed, aggression and energy. The Bobcats couldn’t ask for more than that.
3.) Bradley Beal to Washington Wizards
Bradley Beal will go to the Wizards so that Washington can use him and John Wall on the backcourt. It won’t really matter though. Beal’s so adaptable that he can play with anyone, and make both players look good.
4.) Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to Cleveland Cavaliers
Many thought that prospect Harrison Barnes would be Cleveland’s choice, as they wanted him last year, but he hadn’t yet entered the draft. Now though, Kidd-Gilchrist is here and with his keen ability at putting 3-pointers in the net, he should be Cleveland’s pick.
5.) Andre Drummond to Sacramento Kings
Drummond is a fascinating player to watch. He may not have the skill of Davis or Robinson – but the potential is there. Drummond’s defensive game could be made impossible to play against with a bit of polishing; and the fact that he follows through nearly every single time he gets close to the net doesn’t hurt either. But there’s also no denying the fact that Drummond also carries the biggest risk of the draft. If there are any questions at all in this draft, they’re surrounding Drummond.
