Untapable becomes familiar with Parx Racing
Bensalem, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Leading 3-year-old filly Untapable, the 7-5 morning line favorite for Saturday’s Cotillion Stakes, schooled in the Parx Racing paddock Friday morning ahead of the $1 million, 1 1/16-mile race.
“She just jogged on the track and galloped an easy mile,” said Scott Blasi, assistant to trainer Steve Asmussen. “We weren’t going to do much. She’s carrying great weight (124). I love how she looks. She’s fresh and happy.”
Untapable will be making her first start since finishing fifth as the 7-5 favorite in the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on July 27. The filly will have Rosie Napravnik again in the saddle as they break from post 8 in the nine-horse field.
Owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds, Untapable posted a 9 1/4-length victory in the Mother Goose Stakes on June 28 at Belmont Park with Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez substituting for Napravnik. That was her first start after winning the Kentucky Oaks on May 2 by 4 1/2 lengths.
Untapable began the year with consecutive victories at Fair Grounds in the Rachel Alexandra and Fair Grounds Oaks. She’s earned $1,334,725 in nine lifetime starts with six wins.
The Cotillion has an approximate post time Saturday of 4:45 p.m. ET about 30 minutes prior to the Pennsylvania Derby.
