The Gators, riding a school- record winning streak and having already clinched the SEC title last week, used an 18-0 run to pull away after leading by just two at halftime. They avoided becoming the second straight upset victim of the Gamecocks, who were coming off Saturday’s 72-67 shocker over then-No. 17 Kentucky. Florida (28-2, 17-0 SEC) has won 22 in a row since a loss at Connecticut on Dec. 2. The Gators will put their unbeaten conference record on the line for the last time Saturday at home against No. 25 Kentucky in the regular-season finale for both teams. Mindaugas Kacinas scored 12 points and Duane Notice added 11 to lead South Carolina (11-19, 4-13).

Syracuse, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Syracuse’s slump continued Tuesday with a home loss to an underwhelming Georgia Tech squad that had dropped four in a row coming in. Trae Golden scored a team-high 16 points and made critical free throws down the stretch as the Yellow Jackets upset the seventh-ranked Orange 67-62 in another blow to Syracuse’s stretch run. Daniel Miller filled the stat sheet with 15 points, six rebounds, six blocks and four assists, and Robert Carter Jr. added 12 points for Georgia Tech (14-16, 5-12 ACC), which held the Orange to 39.1 percent shooting. Syracuse (26-4, 13-4) is mired in a 1-4 slump following a 25-0 start that propelled the program to a No. 1 ranking. C.J. Fair, in his final game at the Carrier Dome, scored 23 of his 28 points in the second half, while Tyler Ennis netted 18 in the setback. The already-thin Orange, playing without a key cog in the frontcourt in Jerami Grant, received just 16 points from the rest of the roster.

Nik Stauskas netted 24 points as the 12th- ranked Michigan Wolverines clinched their first outright Big Ten regular season title since 1985-86 with a dominant 84-53 triumph over Illinois at State Farm Center. Stauskas hit a career-best seven 3-pointers on nine attempts for Michigan (22-7, 14-3 Big Ten), which shot 16-of-23 from distance as a team in its fourth straight win. The 16 made triples matched a school record, set earlier this year in a win over Houston Baptist. Caris LeVert and Glenn Robinson III added 15 and 13 points, respectively, with Derrick Walton Jr. contributing nine points, seven rebounds and a game-high five assists. Heading into the contest, Illinois (17-13, 6-11) had held four straight opponents under 50 points. The Wolverines had 52 points at halftime. Rayvonte Rice had 16 points to pace the Fighting Illini, who saw their three- game winning streak come to a blinding halt.

Markel Starks supplied 17 points, while Jabril Trawick totaled 15 points and seven boards for the Hoyas (17-12, 8-9 Big East), who will look to pick up another signature win Saturday when they close out the regular season with a road test against No. 6 Villanova. Doug McDermott tallied 22 points and 12 boards, while Grant Gibbs buried three 3- pointers and finished with 17 points for the Bluejays (23-6, 13-4), who have lost two straight to fall 1 1/2 games back of Villanova atop the Big East with just one game remaining.

Waco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Brady Heslip scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half to help Baylor take a 74-61 win over No. 16 Iowa State at Ferrell Center. Heslip was 5-for-6 from 3-point range over the final 20 minutes after scoring all three of his first-half points from the free throw line. Cory Jefferson led all scorers with 21 points and also grabbed seven boards, while Kenny Cherry chipped in 16 points and six assists off the bench for the Bears (20-10, 8-9 Big 12), winners in six of their last seven games. Baylor will close the regular season at Kansas State on Saturday. DeAndre Kane scored 20 points and Dustin Hogue added 12 for the Cyclones (22-6, 10-7), losers in two straight. ISU will host Oklahoma State on Saturday. With the loss, Iowa State fell into fourth place in the Big 12 standings.
