UAB (5-2) was unable to take down then- ranked New Mexico in the quarterfinals of the Charleston Classic on Nov. 21 after holding a five-point advantage with 36 seconds in regulation and a six- point margin midway through the first extra session. The Lobos won 97-94 in double overtime. Marcus Paige’s potentially game-tying 3-pointer from the right corner with nine seconds remaining was blocked by the Blazers’ Robert Williams and UAB sunk 3-of-4 from the foul line in the waning seconds to seal the win. Rod Rucker netted 11 points and Fahro Alihodzic pulled down 13 rebounds for the Blazers, who improved to 6-0 at home this season. J.P. Tokoto scored 16 points to lead UNC (4-2), which went 1-of-12 from beyond the arc.

Smart had just 12 points on 4-of-13 from the floor, and it was his turnovers in the final seconds that sealed the victory for Memphis. Chris Crawford scored 16 points in the triumph, and Michael Dixon, Jr added 12 off the bench. Phil Forte paced Oklahoma State in defeat with 19 points on 3-of-5 from behind the arc and 8-of-8 from the foul line.

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Xavier Thames put up career-high scoring numbers for the second straight game and led San Diego State to a 67-59 upset over 25th-ranked Marquette in the finals of the Wooden Legacy. Thames followed up a 26-point effort in San Diego State’s (5-1) semifinal victory over Creighton with 27 points on 5-of-6 from 3-point range and 10- of-11 from the free throw line against Marquette (5-3), which led 50-48 late following Deonte Burton’s personal 6-0 run. Minutes later, Winston Shepard broke a 53-53 tie with a pair of free throws and padded the lead with a stepback jumper. Skylar Spencer’s tip-in with less than a minute remaining made it a six-point affair, and Thames put the game away from the free throw line. Shepard and Dakarai Allen netted eight points apiece for SDSU, which has won four in a row, including back-to-back games over ranked opponents. Burton had 15 points off the bench to pace Marquette in the setback.

Johnathan Loyd, Joseph Young and Damyean Dotson all scored 13 points as Oregon (7-0) won by at least 15 points for the sixth straight tilt. The Ducks shot 9-of-19 from behind the arc. Brian Bennett was the lone Cal Poly (2-5) player in double figures with 11 points, as the Mustangs dropped their second straight. Ridge Shipley, David Nwaba and Maliik Love all added nine points.
