The Miami Heat Win Second Consecutive NBA Championship

It was a series that was much more evenly matched than most gave the Spurs credit for. But after seven hard games, the NBA championship was won for the second year in a row by the Miami Heat. It’s also their second since acquiring their Big Three, although only two seemed to be fighting for it on the court last night.

LeBron James is a name that invokes fear into any opponent he’s going to face, and on Thursday night he proved once again why that is. LeBron had a stellar game throughout, but it was during the final minutes that he really stepped up and gave Miami the win. In total he ended with 37 points and 12 rebounds in the 95-88 victory over San Antonio. And while he was being a gnat in Tony Parker’s ear, he also made 5 out of 10 of his 3-pointers.

LeBron was the star of the game, but he had another one of the other Three there to help. That was Dwayne Wade, who finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Bosch put in a terrible performance, not scoring at all, and getting only 7 rebounds.

The Spurs put in a good effort, losing by less than ten points to an extremely powerful and dominant team. Tim Duncan put up 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Spurs, while Shane Battier and Manu Ginobili both scored 18 points. Tony Parker had only 10.

For the Heat this marks the second straight title win after going to the Finals for the past three years, keeping with their prediction of multiple titles after acquiring the Big Three.

The loss is heartbreaking for the Spurs, who looked as though they had this series just a few days ago. Had they done it they would have been the first team to do so on the road in a Game 7 since Washington in 1978. Instead, they now have their first loss in their last five Finals showings.
