Taylor Swift About to Paint Australia “Red”
Fans were super excited when Taylor Swift announced at the end of last year that she was taking her “Red” album on the road for the Red tour. But quickly following that excitement was disappointment that this time around, Swiftie seemed to be keeping it strictly to the United States. Now, with months still left in her North American leg, Taylor has announced that she is in fact, going to be taking the act overseas!
According to her YouTube video announcement, which you can view here, Taylor will kick off an Australian and New Zealand leg in November and December, just about a month after she wraps things up in the States. While there she’ll be hitting Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Melbourne — that’s four stadiums, and one arena. And that should be plenty to keep her Aussie fans happy for a little while!
Pre-sales for the Australian leg start on May 14, with general sales opening on May 21. Taylor’s popularity has always been huge in Australia, with all four of her albums going either platinum or multi-platinum in the country.
“Swift is a superstar globally and has repeatedly sold out multiple arenas in both Australia and New Zealand,” said Michael Gudinski, tour promoter in a statement. “She has proven herself to be one of the most significant female artists of our time and it is a natural progression to see her take her touring to the next level here.”
And she’ll most likely take it to other parts of the world as well, such as the U.K. Her Speak Now World Tour spanned the better part of two years, and it’s hard to see Taylor stopping even after these handfuls of shows are played in Australia.
