Super Bowl XLVI Preview – New England vs. New York
Out of the two teams left to duke it out for Super Bowl rings, only one of them was expected to be there. And while it might not be the Green Bay Packers the New England Patriots are facing, the Giants are going to be tough to beat; and Tom Brady and Co. are going to need to bring all they have if they want to beat Manning and Crew.
Aside from the sheer excitement of just being the Super Bowl, this game’s already got a great storyline, as it will be a rematch for the two teams after the Patriots lost to the Giants back in 2008. But does that win mean that the Giants are likely to do it again? Or does it mean that the Patriots will have that much more determination in them to win?
This one is a really tough one to call. Yes, the Patriots are going to want to avenge the Super Bowl of 2008, and they do have a better record than the Giants this season. But in addition to the big loss four years ago, the Giants also delivered a 17-14 blow to the Patriots earlier this season. The Patriots haven’t lost since that game, and Tom Brady does have those three Super Bowl rings backing him up. But Brady had almost nothing to do with the win against the Baltimore Ravens two weeks ago to get them this far and in fact, made mistakes that almost kept them from getting in.
Yes, the Patriots are going to have an extremely hot fire in their belly to beat the Giants; but we just don’t think it’s going to happen. The Giants will once again snatch Brady’s dreams of the Vince Lombardi Trophy away, and will add another one to their own collection.
