We are still five days away from the Super Bowl, but The Big Easy has already caught the Bowl fever. It was brought in with the 49ers, who landed in the city on Sunday with a team flag flying out an open window of their plane. But when it comes to fanfare that’s all the 49ers was giving, as they start preparing for the biggest game of their lives. But even though they certainly know why they’re there, the 49ers still aren’t sweating it.

“Pressure comes from a lack of preparation,” said quarterback Colin Kaepernick during a press conference that took place about 90 minutes after the team landed. “This is not a pressure situation. It’s a matter of going out and performing.”

And that’s just what they’ll do all week long as they get ready for Sunday’s game, although coach Jim Harbaugh isn’t about to drop any hints about what that preparation means for the team.

“Same approach,” was all Harbaugh said at the same press conference. “Enjoy the moment and the preparation. I think our team enjoys that the most — the meeting, the preparation and then especially, the competition.”

Coach Jim Harbaugh knows all about competition. After all, this is a sport that he’s surrounded himself in his entire life, first playing in college and then for several different NFL teams. During the press conference a reporter took him back to that time in his life, asking him if he saw any similarities between Kaepernick and himself.

“The stride he has,” said Harbaugh jokingly. “The gracefulness of his stride, the ground he covers, how fast and quick he is, he reminds me of myself. Then I wake up.”
