NFL Preview: Week 3
If you love NFL rivalries, this week has some great games lined up for you. In Arizona two rival quarterbacks will meet up with each other; and Baltimore’s going to be looking for some sweet revenge against New England. Add to this a rookie quarterback going up against a champion and once again, football doesn’t disappoint.
New York Giants at Carolina Panthers
This isn’t a rivalry yet, but it soon could be if Cam Newton keeps playing the way he is. Newton has thrown for 556 yards in two games, and he leads his team in rushing. His powerful arm and lightning-quick speed will be difficult for even the Giants to defeat. But let’s not forget that they have Eli Manning (who could?) Facing off against last year’s Super Bowl champ will definitely give Newton the chance to prove whether or not he’s got what it takes to really become elite.
Philadelphia Eagles at Arizona Cardinals
This one will be interesting to watch. Early in his career, Kevin Kolb was the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. But in his first game, the season-opener against the Green Bay Packers, he suffered a concussion. He only missed a couple of games but, it was enough time for Michael Vick to step in and show that he was the man for the job. With no job in Philly for him, Kolb made his way to Arizona. And on Sunday, it will be the first time these two square off against each other to see who’s really the best.
New England Patriots at Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore really has no one to blame but themselves, but you can be sure it’ll be sweet revenge they’re seeking on Sunday. Last year in the playoffs they had the perfect opportunity to knock the Pats out until this year. But a missed field goal at the last second took that opportunity away and instead, the Ravens were the ones that saw their season come to an end. On Sunday, you can be sure they’ll rectify that. Or they’ll at least try.
