David Legwand and Craig Smith added two assists each. Kari Lehtonen gave up all four goals on 21 shots for the Stars, who have dropped their past two games.

Shawn Horcoff, Sam Gagner, Magnus Paajarvi and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins all lit the lamp for the Oilers, who won the final two contests of a nine-game road trip. Ales Hemsky finished with two assists as Edmonton returns home to host Detroit on Friday after a 3-4-2 stretch away from northern Alberta. Semyon Varlamov made 27 saves in defeat for the Avalanche, who couldn’t maintain momentum from back-to-back wins over Chicago and San Jose.

Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) – Mikkel Boedker scored twice to lead the Phoenix Coyotes to a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. Shane Doan and Raffi Torres each posted a goal and an assist while Rob Klinkhammer also scored for the Coyotes, who have won four of their past six games. Mike Smith stopped 31 shots in the win. Dustin Brown and Mike Richards scored for the Kings, who had won four of five coming into the contest. Jonathan Quick gave up all five goals on 29 shots in the loss.
