The Washington Wizards already led the Miami Heat by 30 points and it wasn’t even halftime. How strange did it get Wednesday night at Verizon Center? The Wizards called a timeout before Beal took his foul shots and Greg Oden, who hadn’t played a regular season game in over four years, checked in for the team that had just celebrated its second straight NBA title with the president. John Wall had 25 points and nine assists, Beal and Nene both scored 19 and Washington beat Miami 114-97 after leading by as many as 34, handing the Heat their first three-game losing streak in the regular season in two years.

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – Jared Sullinger poured in 25 points and pulled down a career-high 20 rebounds as the Boston Celtics held on for an 88-83 win over the Toronto Raptors. Avery Bradley added 20 points, Kris Humphries had 12 points and eight boards and Phil Pressey dished out 10 assists in his first career start for the Celtics, who snapped a nine-game skid. With Denver trailing 116-115 and just over a minute to play, Hickson buried a pullup jumper to put the Nuggets on top before stripping Stephen Curry at the other end and going coast-to-coast for a two-handed dunk and a 119-116 lead. Hickson was fouled on the play and missed the ensuing free throw, but Randy Foye came up with the offensive board with 44.9 seconds to play. After wasting most of the shot clock, Ty Lawson misfired on a jumper, but Hickson skied for the offensive board and Lawson went 4-of-4 from the free throw line over the final 21 seconds to seal the outcome. Lawson finished with 22 points and 11 assists, Nate Robinson registered 24 points off the bench, and Wilson Chandler chipped in 22 points and six boards for the Nuggets, who have won six of their last seven games. David Lee tallied 28 points and 11 boards, while Curry followed with 24 points, despite going 4-of-13 from 3-point range in the setback, Golden State’s second in its last three games.

The Clippers trailed 123-106 with 4:49 remaining. After Blake Griffin knocked down a pair of free throws, Crawford nailed a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 12 moments later. Griffin’s free throw from a Flagrant 1 foul shaved the LA deficit to single digits and Matt Barnes nailed a 3-pointer with 1:41 to play to make it 127-121. After another empty possession from the Mavericks, Crawford was fouled while attempting a 3 from the wing and went 2-for-3 from the stripe to make it a four-point game. Monta Ellis bricked a jumper and J.J. Redick nailed a trey at the other end to make it 127-126 with just 34 seconds remaining. Dirk Nowitzki missed a jumper with 21.9 seconds remaining and Crawford was fouled on the other end with 11.2 seconds left. After knocking down the go-ahead free throws, Dallas inbounded to Jose Calderon, who passed it to Nowitzki near the foul line. Nowitzki drew a double team, leaving Calderon wide open for a 3, but Calderon couldn’t get it to fall. DeAndre Jordan grabbed the miss and was fouled with 3.1 ticks showing. Jordan missed the first free throw, but got the second to fall to make it 129-127 and DeJuan Blair’s pass on the ensuing inbounds pass was picked off by Jordan to seal the win.
