It seemed that the initials WWF were in use by the another organization. This conflict landed both parties in court and eventually the World Wildlife Fund won the suit and caused the WWE to be born. This name change spawned two offshoots of the WWE which were WWE Raw and WWE Smackdown. This change did nothing but strengthen the WWE and its fans band together to form a subculture throughout the U.S.
