Recap: Wofford vs. Iona

Spartanburg, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Karl Cochran scored 20 points and Lee Skinner added 15 with nine rebounds, leading Wofford to an 86-73 victory over Iona on Tuesday.

The contest tipped just after 7 a.m. ET as part of ESPN's college basketball marathon.

Justin Gordon scored 13 points and Jaylen Allen chipped in 11 for the Terriers (1-1), who opened their season with a 74-59 loss at Stanford.

David Laury led Iona with 23 points and A.J. English added 22 in defeat. The Gaels (1-1) were coming off a 78-73 win over Cleveland State last Friday to open the season.

Wofford led for most of the first half and opened a 23-17 advantage with 7 1/2 minutes left before the break. Iona rallied with a 10-4 run to tie it and soon after moved in front, taking a 42-39 margin to the break.

The Terriers took the lead for good with just over 14 minutes left on John Swinton's 3-pointer for a 55-52 edge, and a 10-2 run later extended the lead to double digits. Skinner started the burst with consecutive layups and Allen drilled a pair of threes to close it, giving Wofford a 72-60 bulge with 6 1/2 minutes remaining.

Iona got only as close as 11 from there and trailed by as many as 18 in the closing minutes.
