WASHINGTON ST. COUGARS

Washington St. Cougars

Washington St. Cougars VS. Oregon Ducks

Oregon (12-4) at Washington State (8-7)

GAME NOTES: The Oregon Ducks will hit the road to take on the Cougars of Washington State Thursday at Beasley Coliseum in a Pac-12 matchup.

Oregon is coming off a 59-56 victory over Arizona State on Saturday. The Ducks have been victorious in seven of their last eight games, and now own a 12-4 record this season, including a 2-1 mark in conference action. This will be the Ducks' first true road contest of the year.

Washington State comes into Thursday's bout having won back-to-back games against California (69-66) and Washington (80-77). The Cougars are winners in four of their last five games, but still only own an 8-7 record this season. Still, the Cougars are 4-1 at home on the campaign.

Oregon owns the all-time series advantage, 164-123, over Washington State. The Ducks beat the Cougars, 67-53, in Eugene last season in the last meeting between the sides.

Oregon closed out a seven-game homestand with a narrow win over Arizona State on Saturday thanks to some very timely made shots by Jordan Bell and a pair of free throws by Elgin Cook. The Ducks connected on 50 percent of their shots from the floor in the narrow win, and took one fewer attempt than the visiting Sun Devils. Joseph Young led the charge for Oregon with 16 points in the win, while Cook chipped in 14 points. Bell concluded his night with eight points and a whopping eight blocked shots to help out in the winning effort.

Oregon's offense averages 76.5 ppg this season and ranks first in the Pac-12 in scoring. The Ducks are connecting on 45.3 percent of their attempts from the floor, and are making a Pac-12-leading 74.7 percent of their free throws. Young has been at the forefront of Oregon's strong offense, leading the charge this season with a 19.4 ppg mark - the best in the conference. He's followed up by Dillon Brooks's 13.5 ppg and Cook's 11.1 ppg, who round out a trio of double-digit scorers for the Ducks. Oregon's scoring defense hasn't been as hot, as it allows 67.7 ppg to opponents this season.

Washington State and Washington battled back and forth in a heated in-state rivalry match on Saturday, but it was Washington State that came away down the stretch to ice the win with a pair of late free throws. The Cougars didn't take a single free-throw attempt in the first half, but made 15-of-16 from the charity stripe in the second period to help out in the victory. DaVonte' Lacy scored 25 points to lead the Cougars, while Que Johnson chipped in 15, Ike Iroegbu added 13 and Brett Boese contributed 11 off the bench. Josh Hawkinson narrowly missed a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds.

Like it was last season, this is yet again Lacy's offense to run. The senior guard owns the team's scoring lead at 17.0 ppg (fourth in the Pac-12) on 40.6 percent shooting from the floor. Hawkinson didn't do his scoring average any favors by not reaching double digits against the Huskies, but he still maintains a healthy 15.0 ppg average and an 11.0 rpg mark this season. The Cougars are scoring 71.1 ppg this season on 42.9 percent shooting, but the team's scoring defense hasn't been so strong, allowing 73.2 ppg to opponents, ranking last in the conference.

Washington State certainly gets a boost having the home advantage in this one against an Oregon team that hasn't played a true road contest this year. But the Ducks have been soaring high in their last eight games, and won't mind the away crowd as long as they can continue their torrid scoring pace.

Predicted Outcome

Oregon 75, Washington State 68
