Recap: Washington vs. Texas-El Paso

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Andrew Andrews netted 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting as the Washington Huskies held on down the stretch to defeat the Texas-El Paso Miners, 68-65, in the championship game of the Wooden Legacy tournament at the Honda Center.

Nigel Williams-Goss chipped in with 16 points and six assists for Washington (6-0), adding a pair of clutch free throws in the final seconds that gave his Huskies a three-point lead. Jernard Jarreau collected 10 points with eight rebounds in the win.

Vince Hunter tallied a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds for UTEP (4-1). Julian Washburn netted 17 points, and Cedrick Lang contributed 14 in the defeat.

Washington came out in the first half and shot 48.1 percent from the field, and took a 33-26 lead into the intermission despite UTEP connecting on 50 percent of its shot tries in the frame.

Both teams were colder in the second half, as the Huskies managed a 37.9 shooting percentage, but went 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. The Miners made 37.5 percent of their field goal attempts in the period, but hit on just 1-of-10 from 3-point range. Omega Harris's game-tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer was one of the missed shots from distance.

Washington held a distinct 24-8 advantage in points off turnovers after forcing 16 UTEP giveaways.
