Recap: Wake Forest vs. Princeton
Winston-Salem, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Dinos Mitoglou scored 15 points, leading five players in double figures, as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons easily dismissed the Princeton Tigers, 80-66, in a non-conference battle at LJVM Coliseum.
Mitoglou, who converted 3-of-6 shots behind the 3-point line, added seven rebounds off the bench for the Demon Deacons (8-6) as the team won for the fourth time in the last five outings. Cornelius Hudson and Mitchell Wilbekin each tallied 12 points, Devin Thomas 11 and Darius Leonard 10 points for the hosts.
Princeton (5-8) was paced by Steven Cook with his game-high 17 points, converting 4-of-8 beyond the arc, followed by Hans Brase and Amir Bell with 13 and 11 points, respectively, as they saw a two-game win streak come to an end.
Both teams had trouble finding the basket in the first half, with the Tigers converting a total of just eight field goals on 25 attempts and the hosts hitting on 35.5 percent. Wake Forest also had a hard time taking advantage of 11 opportunities at the free-throw line, connecting on only six chances, but still held a 32-20 advantage at the break.
In the second half Princeton responded with an impressive 56.3 percent accuracy from the field, but at the same time the Demon Deacons countered with 50.0 percent from the floor and 6-of-11 on the perimeter in order to keep their distance.
Wake Forest easily won the rebounding battle, 45-27, and also outscored the visitors at the charity stripe, 18-6.
