Recap: Vanderbilt vs. LSU

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Mickey scored 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the LSU Tigers defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores in overtime, 79-75, in an SEC battle at Memorial Gym.

Jarell Martin added 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers (15-4, 4-2 SEC), but was also charged with eight turnovers. Tim Quarterman contributed 12 points and Keith Hornsby had 11, followed by Jalyn Patterson who chipped in with 10 points as LSU won for the second time in as many games.

As for the Commodores (11-8, 1-5), losers of five in a row, Luke Kornet scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench. Wade Baldwin IV added 18 points, shooting 4-of-4 behind the 3-point line, and Damian Jones chipped in with 13 points and six boards.

The Tigers shot 36.4 percent from the field and only connected on 1-of-7 shots from 3-point range in the first half. The Commodores converted 45.2 percent from the field and the bench outscored the LSU reserves 20-4, as Vanderbilt took a 35-30 lead into the break.

In the second half Vanderbilt shot 42.3 percent from the field and was 2-of-7 from beyond the arc. LSU shot 60 percent from the field and connected on 5- of-8 shots from 3-point range. Mickey made a free throw with 1:07 seconds left which sent the game to overtime knotted at 69-69.

During the extra session Quarterman and Martin scored all 10 of LSU's points to lift the hosts to the victory.

In a game that featured 15 lead changes, LSU outrebounded the Commodores by a 42-36.
