Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryce Alford scored 22 points and Kevon Looney recorded a double-double as the UCLA Bruins fended off the San Diego Toreros, 75-68, in a non-conference battle at Pauley Pavilion.

Looney finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds for UCLA (7-2), which also received 16 points from Norman Powell.

Johnny Dee matched Alford with 22 points and Brandon Perry tacked on 16 for San Diego (4-5).

At the end of a back-and-forth first half, which had four ties and as many lead changes, San Diego owned a 35-33 lead. The Toreros connected on exactly 50 percent of their field goal attempts in the first period, while the Bruins were a few steps behind (.462).

The tables turned in the second half as UCLA pulled away by netting 50 percent from the floor and 12-of-19 at the free-throw line. San Diego netted six 3-pointers in the period, but shot at a 40 percent clip overall.

The Toreros outscored the Bruins in the paint (30-24) and off of turnovers (16-14). UCLA had a 37-33 edge on the boards and an 18-10 scoring advantage at the foul line.
