Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarell Martin scored a game-high 25 points, helping the LSU Tigers record a 79-70 win over the UAB Blazers in non-conference action at Bartow Arena.

Also having a strong offensive performance for the Tigers (8-2) was Keith Hornsby with 24 points, followed by Jordan Mickey who supplemented his 13 points with eight rebounds and seven blocked shots. Off the bench, Jalyn Patterson chipped in 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting behind the 3-point line.

The Blazers (4-7) were led by Robert Brown who tallied 20 points and five assists, while CJ Washington and William Lee contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively.

UAB led by as many as 11 points less than five minutes into the meeting, but a 17-6 advantage dwindled to a 39-33 edge at intermission even though the Blazers converted 51.5 percent from the floor and 5-of-10 beyond the arc in the period.

After hitting only 35.5 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes, LSU reversed the roles by connecting on 56.7 percent and limiting the hosts to only 37.5 percent accuracy in order to secure the win.

In addition to making good on 7-of-14 on the perimeter, LSU also outscored the Blazers at the free-throw line by a 16-3 margin.
