TEXAS-ARLINGTON MAVERICKS

Texas-Arlington Mavericks

Texas-Arlington Mavericks VS. Weber St. Wildcats

Weber State (3-3) at Texas-Arlington (3-4)

GAME NOTES: Seeking to end a three-game losing streak, the Texas-Arlington Mavericks will clash with the Weber State Wildcats in a non-conference showdown at College Park Center on Saturday afternoon.

Weber State comes into the contest riding a two-game win streak that immediately follows a two-game losing skid. The Wildcats are 3-3 this season, with consecutive wins over Nevada (59-56) and Oral Roberts (62-61) leading up to this road clash.

UT Arlington has dropped three in a row to Kentucky, Montana State and most recently, Texas (63-53). The three-game slide is coming directly after the Mavericks opened their season with a 3-1 mark.

These two programs have only met once on the court in their brief series history. The sides clashed in 2012, with Weber State prevailing in Ogden, 72-70. This will be the first meeting in Arlington.

Weber State escaped Oral Roberts by the skin of its teeth in the Wildcats' last outing. Jeremy Senglin drilled a 3-pointer for Weber State with four seconds remaining on the clock to put his team up by a final 62-61 margin to even the squad's record at 3-3. Richaud Gittens netted 16 points for Weber State to pace the team, while Chris Golden chipped in with 15 points. Joel Bolomboy pulled down a team-best 12 boards in the contest, and Senglin's 3- pointer to win it gave him nine points on the night.

Bolomboy has proven so far to be a very useful substitute for Davion Berry, last season's leading scorer. Bolomboy enters this clash netting a team-high 15.0 ppg with an 11.0 rpg mark for the double-double average. His 12 blocked shots is also a team best. Senglin is second on the squad in scoring, netting 13.3 ppg for the Wildcats on 41 percent shooting from the floor. Weber State is only scoring 63.0 ppg this season, but that number will change once conference play starts. The team is allowing opponents to net 63.8 ppg as well.

UT Arlington didn't have much going for it when the team took on Texas in its last outing. The Longhorns had a dismal day shooting the ball, netting only 30 percent of their shots from the floor, while the Mavericks connected on 36.4 percent of their tries. Still, UT Arlington didn't have a single player net a double-digit scoring total against Texas, with Jamel Outler and Greg Gainey leading the charge at nine points each in the loss. Lonnie McClanahan contributed eight points, and Johnny Hill brought down a team-best six rebounds.

McClanahan and Outler are the only two players for UT Arlington that sport double-digit scoring averages entering the contest against Weber State. McClanahan tops the team with an 11.4 ppg average, while Outler chips in 10.1 ppg for a team that is scoring 69.3 ppg as a unit. The problem for the Mavericks has been on the defensive end, where they surrender 77.3 ppg to opponents on a 41.3 shooting percentage.

UT Arlington needs to be able to limit Weber State to a poor shooting performance right off the bat to build a lead. If the Wildcats can hang around in the first half, they will be gunning for that road victory behind strong shooting.
