Knoxville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Rodney Cooper scored 17 points as the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Tennessee Volunteers, 56-38, in an SEC clash at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Cooper, who shot 7-of-10 from the field, added five rebounds and five assists to his stat line on the afternoon. Ricky Tarrant added 14 points for the Crimson Tide (12-3, 2-0 SEC), while Jimmie Taylor chipped in with 13 points on a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor as the Tide's win streak reached six in a row.

As for the Volunteers, (9-5, 1-1), Josh Richardson scored 17 points and Armani Moore added eight points and nine rebounds as the team had a five-game win streak come to an end.

In the first half the Volunteers shot 42.9 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from 3-point range. The Crimson Tide shot 46.4 percent from the field and outscored Tennessee in the paint, 16-10, as they took a 29-24 lead into the half.

The Volunteers struggled in the second half, converting just 20.8 percent from the field and missing all eight chances from beyond the arc. The Crimson Tide, which held the hosts scoreless for more than 13 minutes down the stretch, shot 35.0 percent from the field and ended the game on a 20-2 run.

Alabama, which snapped a 16-game road losing streak, scored 18 points on 13 Tennessee turnovers.
