GAME NOTES: With wins in three of their last four games, the Stanford Cardinal play host to the USC Trojans in a Pac-12 Conference melee at Maples Pavilion on Thursday night.

USC has had very little success in its first season under head coach Andy Enfield. The Trojans are just 10-15 overall, but they have been even more disastrous in league play, with just one win in 12 chances. If they can't end their six-game losing streak on Thursday, they will try again versus California on Sunday.

Stanford has been much better this season, sporting a 16-8 overall record. The Cardinal are 7-5 against conference foes, which has them squarely in the middle of the league standings with six games left on the schedule, including this one. They will battle UCLA in their next contest.

The Cardinal already handled the Trojans once this season, grabbing a 79-71 victory at the Galen Center on Jan. 26. USC had won the two previous meetings, and narrowly leads the all-time series, 123-120.

In their most recent setback, the Trojans were defeated by Colorado in an 83-75 final. USC only connected on 37.1 percent of its shots from the floor, including a 3-of-14 showing from 3-point range. Byron Wesley tallied a game- high 21 points in the losing effort.

Wesley (17.6 ppg, 6.9 rpg) has been the lone bright spot for USC this season, as he leads the squad in both scoring and rebounding. His 21-point performance against Colorado was the fourth time in the last five games he has netted at least 20 points. Beyond him, offensive production has been hard to come by for the Trojans, with Pe'Shon Howard (10.4 ppg, 4.3 apg) the next best option. Making matters worse, Howard is listed as questionable for this game due to disciplinary issues. All told, USC is next-to-last in the Pac-12 in scoring (71.8 ppg).

Stanford is coming off a game ruled by defense, which it won easily, topping Washington State, 69-56. The Cardinal limited the hometown Cougars to 31.4 percent field goal efficiency, while sinking a mere 43.9 percent of their own shots. Anthony Brown tallied a career-high 30 points in the win.

Normally Chasson Randle (18.5 ppg) and Dwight Powell (15.1 ppg, 7.8 rpg) are the leaders on offense for the Cardinal. Randle ranks fifth in the Pac-12 in scoring, and he finished with 14 points against Washington State, extending his streak scoring in double figures to eight games. Powell had more of an issue, tallying only nine points, ending a streak of 15 games in double digits for the 6-foot-10 forward. Brown (13.3 ppg) and Josh Huestis (10.8 ppg, 8.1 rpg) are also prominent contributors for Stanford, which does lack depth, with Stefan Nastic (7.5 ppg) the only other player putting in more than four ppg.

USC couldn't beat Stanford at full strength on its home court. This time, the Cardinal should have no problem against a hobbled and traveling group of Trojans.
