Recap: St Bonaventure vs. Saint Josephs
St. Bonaventure, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Posley scored 23 points as St. Bonaventure pulled away from the Saint Joseph's Hawks for a 70-61 victory in Atlantic 10 Conference action at the Reilly Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Bonnies (10-6, 3-2 A10), as they picked up their second win in as many games, were Youssou Ndoye and Dion Wright with 15 and 14 points, respectively, the former added six rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots for the hosts.
DeAndre Bembry led all scorers with 27 points, hitting 6-of-9 shots behind the 3-point line for the Hawks (7-9, 1-4) as they lost for the fifth time in six outings. Isaiah Miles pitched in with 10 points and six rebounds in the loss.
Both sides had a hard time finding the basket in the first half as the Bonnies knocked down 38.7 percent from the floor and the visitors only 33.3 percent, but a slight advantage at the free-throw line, 5-1, helped to push the Hawks to a narrow 29-28 edge at the break.
In the second half not only did St. Bonaventure turn it around from the field, converting 59.1 percent, it also outscored Saint Joseph's 12-3 at the charity stripe, with several crucial free throws down the stretch to secure the nine- point win.
In addition to holding the Hawks to just 38.6 percent accuracy from the floor, the Bonnies also took great care of the ball, suffering only seven turnovers on the afternoon.
