St. Bonaventure Bonnies VS. St. Joseph's Hawks

Saint Joseph's (7-8) at St. Bonaventure (9-6)

GAME NOTES: The Saint Joseph's Hawks try to get back to .500 on Sunday as they contend with St. Bonaventure in Atlantic 10 Conference action at the Reilly Center.

The Hawks, who have yet to win more than two consecutive games, are coming off a 66-55 victory against Fordham on Wednesday night, a victory that snapped a four-game slide by the program. The team is just 1-3 in conference play which has it in the bottom half of the league standings.

As for the Bonnies, who are in the middle of the pack from an A-10 perspective, they too ended up in the win column in their most recent outing. After losing consecutive games to Dayton and Richmond, St. Bonaventure responded with a 75-55 romp over George Mason on Wednesday at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY.

The Hawks own a 49-18 advantage in the all-time series, winning 20 of the 29 contests played at the Reilly Center. Saint Joseph's swept a pair of meetings during the 2013-14 season, posting an 83-74 victory on the road the first of March and then repeating the feat less than two weeks later, 67-48, during the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Brooklyn.

Despite shooting only 33.3 percent from the field in the first half and 39.2 percent overall, while turning the ball over 16 times, the Hawks still registered the double-digit home win at Hagan Arena versus the Rams earlier in the week. Chris Wilson, who converted 5-of-9 behind the 3-point line, ended with a career-best 23 points, while DeAndre Bembry accounted for 13 points and eight rebounds, followed by Aaron Brown with 12 points and another eight boards off the bench.

Sporting the same lineup in every game this season, the Hawks follow the lead set by Bembry with his 15.9 ppg, although his scoring could be slightly better if not for the 65.1 percent effort at the free-throw line. But more than just a scoring threat, Bembry is also first on the unit with 6.7 rpg, 44 assists and 28 steals, while tying for the lead with 14 blocked shots. Isaiah Miles and Brown check in with 10.3 and 10.1 ppg, respectively, as the group produces only 62.7 ppg, compared to 65.3 ppg for the opposition.

The Bonnies trailed by as many as eight points in the first half against George Mason, but the team turned it around late in the frame, eventually leading by as many as 25 points before settling in with the 20-point victory on a neutral floor. Youssou Ndoye logged a double-double with 28 points and 13 rebounds, both of which were team highs, while Marcus Posley and Andell Cumberbatch jumped in with 22 and 12 points, respectively.

One of six teams in the nation entering the weekend with at least five players scoring in double figures, St. Bonaventure still somehow comes up with just 69.1 ppg as the reserves bring little to the table at the offensive end. Posley paces the team with 17.1 ppg, accounting for 40 of the unit's 84 3- pointers, while Dion Wright (12.0 ppg) and Ndoye (11.4 ppg) have shown a nose for the ball with a combined 18.4 rpg. Ndoye, one of only a few players in the country averaging a double-double, is also responsible for 40 blocked shots.

As long as the Bonnies can put enough pressure on Bembry to throw him off his game, the hosts will have a good shot at scoring the win here.

Predicted Outcome

St. Bonaventure 67, Saint Joseph's 61
