Recap: South Florida vs. Tulsa
Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - James Woodard buried 5-of-7 3-point attempts en route to a game-high 21 points, as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane claimed a 75-58 road win over South Florida in American Athletic Conference play at the Sun Dome.
Shaquille Harrison was next in line with 14 points, and he and Woodard both swiped three steals in the victory. Marquel Curtis added 13 points and D'Andre Wright scored 12 for the first-place Golden Hurricane (12-5, 5-0 AAC), winners of seven straight.
Nehemias Morillo led the way with a team-high 15 points and six rebounds off the bench for the Bulls (7-11, 1-4), who have now lost three in a row. Ruben Guerrero rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points in the loss.
USF jumped out to a seven-point lead at the 12:22 mark of the first half and went on to shoot a healthy 55 percent from the floor in the opening frame. However, they also turned the ball over 11 times, which opened the door for Tulsa to grab a 32-27 halftime lead.
The Golden Hurricane were simply too much to handle in the second stanza, as they shot 60 percent from the floor and went 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and 9- of-11 at the foul line to seal the victory. Woodard scored 18 of his 21 points after halftime.
Bulls leading scorer Corey Allen, Jr. (14.8 ppg) was hampered by a calf injury and finished with only two points in 23 minutes. The Bulls clearly missed his production during the course of the second half as they shot just 33 percent from the floor.
