Recap: South Florida vs. Bowling Green
Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Richaun Holmes netted 19 points, grabbed nine rebounds and recorded four blocked shots as his Bowling Green Falcons outlasted the South Florida Bulls, 79-70, in non-conference play at the Sun Dome.
Jehvon Clarke came off the bench to add 15 points for Bowling Green (7-3), which has won two of its last three contests. Jovan Austin scored 11 points, and Zack Denny contributed 10 in the win.
Chris Perry tallied a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead South Florida (6-7) in both categories. Anthony Collins chipped in with 20 points and six assists, and Corey Allen Jr. added 17 in the losing effort. The Bulls have dropped six of their last seven games.
USF came out in the first half and connected on 42.3 percent of its shots from the floor, adding in 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. The Bulls took a 34-31 lead into the intermission after Bowling Green made 44.4 percent of its tries in the frame.
The Falcons came roaring back in the second half, however, behind a 56 percent shooting touch and a 15-of-23 mark from the charity stripe. The Bulls hit on 58.3 percent from the field in the period, but only made 1-of-6 from 3-point range and 7-of-13 from the foul line.
Bowling Green outscored USF from beyond the arc, 27-12, in the contest, and owned a slight 13-11 edge in points off turnovers.
