Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Isaiah Whitehead tallied 15 points, six boards and five assists to lift the Seton Hall Pirates to a 58-54 victory over the George Washington Colonials in a non-conference battle at the Prudential Center.

Kethan Savage led the Colonials (3-2) with 19 points. Patricio Garino chipped in 10 points and Kevin Larsen grabbed eight boards.

The Pirates took a 25-23 lead into halftime despite being held to 1-of-6 efficiency from beyond the arc in the opening stanza. GW shot just 40 percent from the floor and was outscored, 16-10, in the paint in the first half.

Garino made a layup to tie the score on GW's first possession of the second half and the Colonials managed to take a 36-30 lead by the 12:11 point of the period. Seton Hall fought back to take control and held a 55-53 advantage on the scoreboard with just over a minute remaining in regulation. GW had possession, trailing, 56-54, with seconds left to play, but it failed to attempt a game-tying shot as Savage was called for a travel. Gibbs converted a pair of free-throw tries on the other end of the floor to put it out of reach.

The Pirates outscored the visitors, 18-14, at the charity stripe.
