Seattle Redhawks VS. Pepperdine Waves

Recap: Seattle vs. Pepperdine

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Isiah Umipig scored a game-high 24 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Seattle Redhawks posted a 62-45 win over the Pepperdine Waves in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational at the Connolly Center.

Umipig shot 5-of-13 behind the 3-point line on the night for the Redhawks (17-15), but just 8-of-21 from the field overall. Jarell Flora responded with 20 points as he made good on 4-of-8 beyond the arc, which means he and Umipig nearly matched the output of the entire Pepperdine (18-14) team. William Powell pitched in with 10 rebounds and five assists.

With the victory, Seattle will now take on Colorado in the next round of the tourney.

The Waves failed to have a single player score in double figures as Jeremy Major came close with nine points on 2-of-6 shooting from the floor.

Pepperdine's 7-3 advantage about four minutes into the meeting quickly disappeared, but even though the team shot just 33.3 percent from the field in the opening half it trailed by just five at the break, 29-24.

Unfortunately for the visitors, they managed to convert a total of just seven field goals over the final 20 minutes of action, making it rather easy for Seattle to cruise to the win.

The Redhawks, who held a huge 40-22 advantage on the glass, survived 19 turnovers on the night.
