SAN JOSE ST. SPARTANS

San Jose St. Spartans

San Jose St. Spartans VS. Princeton Tigers

Princeton (1-5) vs. San Jose State (1-5)

GAME NOTES: On the final day of the Wooden Legacy Tournament, the Princeton Tigers and San Jose State Spartans will square off in a consolation contest at Honda Center.

After a season-opening win against Rider, Princeton has dropped its last five games to get to its 1-5 overall record coming into Sunday's matchup. The Tigers have fallen to UTEP (62-56) and San Diego (75-65) in back-to-back games as part of the Wooden Legacy tournament.

San Jose State hasn't fared any better this season. The Spartans enter the game with an identical 1-5 record that also consists of five consecutive losses. The Spartans have dropped contests to Washington (78-56) and Western Michigan (79-60) to get to this point.

This is the first time that Princeton and San Jose State will ever meet on the basketball court.

Princeton fell behind to San Diego early in the team's last outing as part of the Wooden Legacy tournament, which killed the Tigers going forward as they tried to make a second-half comeback. Still, Princeton shot 45.1 percent from the floor in the game, and was led in scoring by sophomore Spencer Weisz, who nearly attained a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Amir Bell was the only other Tiger to net double figures, contributing 17 points before fouling out.

The Tigers have struggled with foul trouble this season, and in six games have seen 125 personal fouls and four foul outs (Bell owns three of them). That's led to opponents having already attempted 130 foul shots against the Tigers this season. In six games, Weisz and Hans Brase are the only two players averaging scoring figures in double digits. Weisz leads the team with a 15.2 ppg average, and Brase comes in at 11.7 ppg. As a unit, the Tigers are scoring just 63.2 ppg and allowing opponents to score 70.0 ppg.

Western Michigan inflicted plenty of damage against San Jose State in the Spartans' latest outing against the Broncos, who shot 56.5 percent from the floor en route to scoring 79 points. San Jose State could only manage 32 percent shooting in the contest, and only had one player to net a double-digit scoring total - Frank Rogers contributed 17 points and six rebounds in the losing effort.

Rogers, who has played in five games instead of all six for the Spartans, retook the scoring average lead on his team after the 17-point outing. He tops the squad with a 10.8 ppg average, and is tailed closely by Rashad Muhammed's 10.7 ppg mark. Rogers also enters the contest against Princeton leading his Spartans in rebounding, bringing down an average of 6.4 boards per outing. San Jose State as a whole is scoring 60.2 ppg, and is allowing opponents to net 67.8 ppg.

Both Princeton and San Jose State have serious issues offensively, which is why neither has been able to score more than 68 points in a game this season. Princeton's lineup is more solidified than San Jose State's, but is wildly inconsistent. It's all a matter of which team decides to show up.
