San Jose St. Spartans VS. Pepperdine Waves

Recap: San Jose St vs. Pepperdine

San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jett Raines scored a game-high 21 points and cleared eight rebounds as the Pepperdine Waves cruised to a 63-44 win over the San Jose State Spartans in a non-conference showdown at The Event Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Waves (3-0) were Stacy Davis and Jeremy Major with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The Spartans (1-2), losers of two straight, failed to have a single player score in double figures. Rashad Muhammad and Frank Rogers both came close with nine points apiece, the latter also clearing a game-high 11 rebounds in an effort to keep the hosts competitive.

Both teams shot less than 36 percent from the field in the first half, but with SJSU missing on all seven chances behind the 3-point line, that allowed Pepperdine to move out to a 26-22 advantage at the break.

In the second half the Spartans completely fell apart at the offensive end of the floor as they made a total of just five field goals, en route to the 19- point setback.

In a game that featured five ties and four lead changes, poor field goal shooting and 20 turnovers doomed San Jose State.
